IF I have a CRIMINAL RECORD, OWE BACK CHILD SUPPORT, HAVE A DWI/DUI, OR HAVE OVERDUE TAXES; CAN IT AFFECT MY TRAVEL PLANS?
IT MAY. Please check with the embassy or consulate of the country you plan to visit before making any travel plans to see if a criminal history, especially felony convictions. This does include owing back child support and overdue unpaid taxes. You may be detained at Customs and it could affect your ability to enter any country.
For example, a person who has a DUI or a DWI conviction on record (no matter how long ago, even if it was 10+ years ago) could be prevented from entering Canada.
